![]() ![]() THE SIZE OF THE AREA YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH.Here’s what we did, how we did it, and some recommendations for building your very own front-yard mini!įirst, you’ll have to decide where you want to build it and how big you want it to be. The consensus among the build crew is we did it cheaply and ended up with a solid product! I will be the first to admit though that some corners were definitely cut. That would be my goal if I were building something in the yard. This spring, my roommates and I set out to build our first mini ramp. We spent some time researching different DIY plans, watching youtube videos, and talking about what we wanted for a ramp. We built it over the course of a week, working on it for a couple hours every couple of days and spent roughly $500. Another is a guy that is learning to skate with his son, and he simply found the overall size too intimidating.īoth groups ended up chopping their ramps down to about 2.5' tall, which is a really accessible and fun height. One was a group of really good skaters, and they found that they were all getting too many injuries on the ramp due to the size (and it being in a really tight space). One other note: I've had two separate groups of old-skater friends that had backyard miniramps in the 4' tall range. Overall length is just over 16', if I recall correctly. You can see it in action here: and here: I'd love to have 8' instead, and I definitely wouldn't want 4'. It's a little hard for me to say exactly how short it is, because it's not totally clear to me where the transition ends on the quarterpipes (they push outward into flat a tiny bit.īut a quick measure right now shows it to be somewhere between 5.5' and 6' of flat bottom. ![]() I am willing to pay someone to help design to get it right this time. Let's not repeat that poor memory in adulthood. It broke my little heart that I couldn't really skate on it. My dad built me a quarter pipe when I was very little and the angle was all wrong. How do I add a harness like what Kai Lenny has in this video? Since wood is so expensive these days is there another material one could use? I'd like the option of something short & something I can learn on. Can I build on top of the gravel? There is a shit ton of gravel, so please God say yes! The "Purrfect fence" to keep the cats inside sticks out maybe 1-2 feet. & The wife just agreed to let me build something!! □□ It opens up what i think would be enough room for a mini ramp. We're in the process of removing the tree in the back right corner. Your post so people don't have to look for it: You can post your videos, give and receive tips on tricks you're having difficulty with, your new board setup and anything else you find relevant. If it doesn't make sense to specify an age just put. ![]() Note: There is no age restriction as long as you are not posting your skating footage. (it should be the last thing, no periods after it). You did not place the tag at the end of the title. You did not enclose tag in square brackets. You forgot to include YO in your age tag after age number. Therefore, all my post titles this birthday year will be followed by the following: Your post should contain the following tag at the end, where age is your current age in numbers.įor example, I am 38 years old. If you are less than and want to post your skating footage please use communities which are more appropriate (ex: r/skateboarding). This is implemented by design to allow the younger skaters to interact with the older skaters but not make the subreddit pointless. Your post will be removed if it violates this rule. There is no age restriction as long as you are not posting your skating footage (videos or photos). If you are a new old skater you are in the right place as well. This subreddit is for the older skaters (anyone above 30). ![]()
